Not long ago, we received an email from a former participant, who lived in New Moms’ Cooperative Living Program 10 years ago. She came to us homeless, after being evicted from the apartment she had lived in with her mother until her mother died from AIDS. She wrote,
“New Moms was the only family that attended my high school graduation. After high school, I got a job at a hotel as an Administrative Assistant. New Moms helped me to move to a two bedroom apartment. I am a happily single mother, and for the last 3 years, I have been working as a Technical Analyst at a payroll company, making over $40,000/year. I have a beautiful townhome, and am working on my BA in Computer Information Systems. I wanted to tell you this, because I want New Moms’ clients to know that there are single women out here, who are making it day-to-day. I hope to be one of your success stories. I love my children and myself, and I thank New Moms for taking a chance on me.” |
